Islamabad: Minister of State for National Health Services Mukhtar Ahmad Malik has urged the citizens of the federal capital to actively participate in the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026. During an event at Shakarparian, he expressed his commitment to transforming the capital into a more livable city, specifically by reducing the prevalence of pollen allergies.
According to Radio Pakistan, authorities have removed over 8,000 paper mulberry trees and replaced them with 10,000 new trees in the Shakarparian area to achieve this goal. Mukhtar Ahmad Malik noted that official records show a measurable decrease in pollen levels following the removal of these specific trees.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority Muhammad Ali Randhawa announced that the government has launched a new system to track and monitor planted trees using QR codes. By scanning these codes, citizens can access specific information about a tree's botanical name, age, growth rate, and other relevant data.
He stated that these QR codes are initially being installed on trees along Islamabad's main highways, with plans to expand the tracking system further across the city.
