Islamabad: Minister of State for National Health Services Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath has emphasized the need for raising public awareness to overcome health challenges facing the country. Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad today, he pointed out that the lack of awareness is a key issue affecting vaccine acceptance in society and overall public health.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Malik Mukhtar highlighted that diseases like Hepatitis B and C are spreading mainly due to polluted water in various cities. He noted that hesitance and poor awareness regarding vaccination continue to undermine Pakistan’s health system.
Commending the Prime Minister’s efforts in launching the Hepatitis Elimination Programme, Dr. Mukhtar expressed confidence that preventive measures could help eradicate the disease. He stressed that universal health coverage cannot be achieved without a strong primary healthcare system.
The Minister of State urged all sections of society, including academia, to play their part in promoting awareness regarding health and prevention of diseases.
