Kulgam: The ongoing military operation by Indian forces in Kulgam district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir continued for the ninth consecutive day on Friday. The cordon and search operation was launched in the Akhal area on Thursday, July 31.
According to Radio Pakistan, Indian forces claimed the killing of one ‘militant’ during the initial exchange of fire, while six Indian army soldiers sustained injuries. Indian officials, referring to the offensive as ‘Operation Akhal’, confirmed that heavy gunfire and multiple explosions were heard throughout the night.
The operation is expected to continue in the coming days and may become one of the longest-running military actions in Occupied Kashmir in recent decades. The Indian Army has deployed advanced military assets, including Rudra attack helicopters, drones, and Para Commandos.
All entry and exit points to several areas in the district have been sealed off, with strict restrictions on the movement of civilians.
