Measures Underway to Equip Workforce with International Standard Skills: PM


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government is prioritizing measures to equip Pakistan’s workforce with skills and training that meet international standards. He conveyed this during a meeting with a seven-member delegation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), led by its Global Chief Executive, Helen Brand, in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of leveraging Pakistan’s young and talented workforce by enhancing their skills. He stated that improving governance and equipping the youth are among the government’s top priorities. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of third-party validation in public sector projects to enhance transparency and governance.



The Prime Minister welcomed the improvement in Pakistan’s rating by Fitch, while acknowledging the need for continued hard work. He suggested that the ACCA could play a significant role in providing professional training to the Pakistani workforce to boost their global competitiveness. The government, he assured, would support efforts by the ACCA to improve the efficiency of government institutions.



He instructed relevant authorities to enhance cooperation with the ACCA and to develop a future course of action. During the meeting, the ACCA delegation briefed the Prime Minister on its contribution to the development of Pakistan’s economy and acknowledged the achievements of 13,000 ACCA members from Pakistan who have excelled internationally.



The delegation expressed its willingness to fully cooperate in Pakistan’s green economy transformation plan. It also pointed out areas of collaboration, such as climate change, increasing government revenues, system transparency, capacity building, innovation in accountancy and audit, and outsourcing of services in the corporate sector. The delegation appreciated the government’s accomplishments in economic development under the Prime Minister’s leadership.
