Lahore: The 61st martyrdom anniversary of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, was observed today.
According to Radio Pakistan, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti played a pivotal role during the Indo-Pak war of 1965. Serving as a company commander in the Burki area of the Lahore sector, he made the critical decision to stay with his forward platoon, despite facing relentless artillery and tank attacks from the enemy.
During the conflict, Major Bhatti demonstrated exceptional leadership and bravery by organizing the defense of the BRB canal alongside his soldiers. His commitment to his duty and his country was unwavering, even as they faced constant enemy fire.
Tragically, Major Bhatti was struck in the chest by an enemy tank shell and embraced martyrdom on this day in 1965. His sacrifice and valor continue to be remembered and honored by the nation.
