Rawalpindi: The 54th martyrdom anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider was observed on Friday. Major Akram is remembered for his extraordinary bravery and dedication during the 1971 war.
According to Radio Pakistan, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed led a company of the 4th Frontier Force Regiment in the Hilli sector in what was then East Pakistan. During the 1971 war, he demonstrated remarkable courage and determination. On December 3, 1971, he was ordered to launch an assault on heavily fortified enemy positions.
With steadfast determination, Major Akram managed to destroy three enemy tanks during the assault. Despite sustaining severe injuries, he fought valiantly until the end. His actions on that day in 1971 made him a symbol of bravery and dedication to duty as he embraced Shahadat.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu have solemnly commemorated the Shahadat anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed.
