Islamabad: A parliamentary delegation from the People’s Majlis of the Republic of Maldives, led by Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdullah, is set to arrive in Pakistan today for a five-day official visit. The delegation has been invited by Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, marking a significant step in enhancing the parliamentary and political relations between the two countries.
According to Radio Pakistan, the visit underscores the commitment of Pakistan and Maldives to bolster parliamentary cooperation and engage more closely at an institutional level. Both nations have historically maintained close and cordial relations, rooted in shared faith, cultural connections, and mutual respect.
During their stay, the Maldivian delegation will meet with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and other political leaders in Pakistan. They will also engage with the Pakistan-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group and Members of Parliament, providing a platform for discussions on legislative cooperation, fostering people-to-people connections, and enhancing regional collaboration.
The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to historical and cultural sites in Islamabad, reflecting the broader aim of strengthening inter-parliamentary linkages.
