Long Ignored Roads, Being Actively Developed: Punjab CM


Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz says roads, long ignored are being actively developed, marking a significant turnaround in the province’s infrastructure landscape. Chairing a performance review meeting of the Communication and Works Department in Lahore on Thursday, she announced that for the first time in decades, meaningful attention has been paid to improving roads in the province.



According to Radio Pakistan, during the briefing, the Chief Minister was informed that the construction of 1,214 roads, covering 12,000 km, has been completed. This large-scale development effort is aimed at enhancing connectivity and promoting economic growth in the region.



The meeting also agreed to replace the traditional toll contracting system with a new digital toll system across Punjab. This modernization step is expected to streamline toll collection processes and improve efficiency in the management of road infrastructure.
