Lahore: Chief Executive Officer of Lahore Electric Supply Company, Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt, has announced that special arrangements have been put in place to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the Basant Festival from Friday to Sunday.
According to Radio Pakistan, Engineer Butt shared in an exclusive interview that LESCO officers and staff have been deployed at a control room established at the Deputy Commissioner's Office Lahore. The control room will operate around-the-clock in three shifts to provide an immediate response in case of any emergency and to maintain the stability of the power system.
A central control room has also been set up at LESCO Headquarters' Power Distribution Centre for continuous monitoring of the power transmission and distribution system. This setup will ensure effective coordination among field teams. In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, LESCO teams are actively securing and properly clipping electrical wires and cables in sensitive areas of the Walled City of Lahore, including Delhi Gate, Kashmiri Gate, Sheranwala Gate, Bhati Gate, and Haveli Asif Jah.
Engineer Butt emphasized that human life is the highest priority. Precautionary measures are being taken to prevent possible electrical accidents and ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Basant celebrations. He personally visited Mochi Gate, Liberty, and Ichhra sub-divisions, as well as various localities along Ferozepur Road, to review Basant-related arrangements.
Repair work on hanging wires, tilted poles, weak cross-arms, and other electrical installations is being carried out on a fast-track basis. Protective nets have also been installed at grid stations in sensitive areas. Engineer Butt assured that LESCO field teams, maintenance staff, and operational personnel are fully mobilized and prepared to respond promptly to any emergency situation, ensuring a safe and uninterrupted electricity supply during the Basant Festival.
