Leghari Orders Uninterrupted Power Supply During Sehri and Iftar

Islamabad: Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehri and Iftar in the holy month of Ramadan. In an initiative aimed at facilitating citizens during the sacred month, specific measures have been laid out to ensure smooth electricity provision.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Power Division has issued standard operating procedures to all power distribution companies, including K-Electric. These procedures are designed to guarantee electricity supply during critical Sehri and Iftar times. The decision includes a significant directive that no load shedding will occur during these times, even in areas identified as high-loss zones. Instead, any necessary load management will be shifted to other hours throughout Ramadan.

Distribution companies have been further instructed to avoid unannounced load shedding, a move intended to minimize inconvenience for consumers during Ramadan. The Federal Minister has emphasized the importance of addressing consumer complaints promptly and ensuring effective communication and coordination.

The Chief Executive Officers of all distribution companies have been directed to establish dedicated control rooms. These control rooms will be responsible for monitoring the electricity supply and responding swiftly to any disruptions. Additionally, special instructions have been issued to manage high-loss areas, aligning with anti-power theft campaigns. This approach aims to prevent an increase in outstanding dues and system losses, thereby ensuring a more stable electricity supply during the holy month.
