Islamabad: Law enforcement agencies are fully alert to maintain law and order during 9th and 10th Muharram processions across the country. A comprehensive security plan, developed in collaboration with federal and provincial governments, has been implemented. Control rooms are operational at both federal and provincial levels to closely monitor the security situation.

According to Radio Pakistan, a zero-tolerance policy towards sectarianism and religious hatred is being enforced. A total of 2,763 mourning processions and 7,598 majalis are being held today across Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan as part of the 9th Muharram observances. Ensuring the safety of these gatherings, law enforcement agencies are conducting around-the-clock surveillance using drones and CCTV cameras in 1,129 sensitive areas.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and Secretary Interior Khurram Agha are personally monitoring and coordinating the activities of all mourning processions. In a statement, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that maintaining law and order is the government’s top priority. He assured that the enemy’s plans could neither succeed in the past nor will they now, highlighting the readiness of law enforcement agencies to counter any threats.

Furthermore, the Minister stated firmly that any religiously provocative statements or posts on social media will not be tolerated, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining peace and security during these significant religious events.
