Lasting Peace Hinges on Eliminating Terrorism: Tariq

Islamabad: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has declared that achieving lasting peace is contingent upon the complete eradication of terrorism within the country. Responding to a point of order in the Senate, he criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for what he described as a dual approach, noting that while it professes opposition to terrorism, it simultaneously resists military operations aimed at combating terrorist elements.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry pointed out that investigations into terrorist incidents in Pakistan frequently uncover connections to handlers based in India or Afghanistan. He emphasized that the government is resolute in its stance against allowing any illegal immigrants to remain in the country. Chaudhry stressed the importance of national unity, urging all citizens to stand in solidarity with families that have made significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Furthermore, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs called upon all political entities to set aside their differences and collaborate to safeguard national interests. In response to a motion in the Senate, he cautioned that political disagreements and polarization should not escalate to a point where they compromise the country's welfare. Chaudhry also highlighted the positive trajectory of Pakistan's economy, noting an uptick in foreign investment as a testament to growing international confidence in the nation.

The Senate session concluded with an announcement that the house will reconvene tomorrow at 11:30 in the morning.
