Lahore: Lahore has been declared as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2027. This announcement was made during the sixth Meeting of Tourism Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which took place in Erzurum, Turkiye.
According to Radio Pakistan, the cities that were in contention for the prestigious title included Mary from Turkmenistan and Karakol from Kyrgyzstan. Lahore’s selection is regarded as a crucial move towards promoting the city’s cultural and historical heritage on an international platform.
In response to the announcement, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif shared a message on the social media platform X, expressing Lahore’s readiness to welcome the world and its eagerness to shine on the global stage. She conveyed her heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude to all ECO nations for their trust and support in granting Lahore this opportunity.
