Peshawar: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), in collaboration with the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), has officially launched a project titled ‘Economic Empowerment of Vulnerable Households in Pakistan through Livestock Provision.’
According to Radio Pakistan, the launching ceremony was held in Peshawar and was attended by government officials, representatives from UN agencies, partner organizations, and members of the media. The initiative aims to strengthen livelihoods, improve food security, and promote self-reliance among vulnerable households in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by providing livestock, poultry, and practical training through the technical support of the Livestock Department.
Under the project, one thousand families from Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral, Lower Dir, and Upper Dir will receive two female goats each, along with silage and training on livestock management. Another one thousand families from Swat, Swabi, Haripur, and Mansehra will be provided with twenty-five poultry birds per household, a complete poultry kit, and training focused on poultry care and small-scale income generation.
In addition, five hundred families from Charsadda, Mardan, and Nowshera will receive cattle, silage, and hands-on training in animal care and dairy production.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of KSrelief Pakistan, Abdullah Al-Baqami, emphasized that the project reflects the strong and brotherly ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He stated that the initiative demonstrates KSrelief’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and advancing sustainable livelihoods across the region.
In his remarks, Additional Secretary, Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department, Noor ul Amin, appreciated the generous support extended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief. He also acknowledged the effective collaboration between the Peace and Development Organization and the Livestock Department in implementing this impactful initiative on the ground.
