KP PDMA Spokesperson Praises Federal Government’s Support in Flood Relief Operations

Peshawar: Anwar Shahzad, the spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has commended the federal government for extending comprehensive support in relief and rescue operations amid the ongoing floods in the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change, necessitating global efforts to address this challenge. Since August 14, continuous rains have severely impacted various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Buner district being the most affected. Rescue and relief efforts are in full swing in the district, involving all relevant departments and institutions. The severe damage in Buner has been attributed to a cloudburst, which provides little time for an effective response. Heavy machinery has been deployed to locate missing individuals, and financial relief and aid are being provided to flood-affected families.

A cloudburst also occurred in the Swabi area last night, but no reports of loss or damage have
been received so far. The provincial government is utilizing all available resources for relief and rescue operations, as they have sufficient means to manage the damages. However, they remain open to accepting aid from the federal government or international donor agencies if necessary. The federal government and its institutions have generously offered full support to assist the provincial government in conducting aid and relief operations for the affected families.
