Kashmiris Mark India’s Independence Day as Black Day

Kashmir: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observed India’s Independence Day as Black Day on Friday to register their protest against New Delhi’s occupation of their homeland.

According to Radio Pakistan, the call to observe Black Day was given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and supported by all pro-freedom leaders and organizations. Anti-India demonstrations were held worldwide by the Kashmiris to draw attention to the Indian actions in the occupied territory.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, said India has no moral or legal right to celebrate its Independence Day in the held territory as it is holding the territory against the will of the Kashmiri people. In Muzaffarabad, a rally was taken out jointly by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell and Pasban-e-Hurriyat.

The rally started from Burhan Muzaffar Wani Shaheed Chowk and ended at Ghari Pan Chowk. The participants of the rally were holding black flags and banners with slogans against India’s occupation. The participants of the rally raised slogans in favor of freedom and against Indian control.

Addressing the rally, the speakers said that India has deprived the Kashmiris of their right to freedom and self-determination and has no right to celebrate Independence Day. They said that by celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14, Kashmiris have given a clear message to the world that their real destination is Pakistan.
