Islamabad: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world observed Black Day to highlight the ongoing crisis due to India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. This day marks the 1947 invasion by Indian troops, which violated the Partition Plan and disregarded the Kashmiri people’s wishes.
According to Radio Pakistan, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference called for the observance of Black Day to urge the international community to address the Kashmir dispute. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the day began with prayers for Pakistan’s integrity and prosperity, and the liberation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. A one-minute silence was observed at 10:00 a.m. to show solidarity with the Kashmiris and their struggle against Indian occupation.
Protests, rallies, seminars, and other events occurred across AJK’s districts and Tehsil headquarters to condemn the 1947 invasion by the Indian Army. In Muzaffarabad, a public gathering and rally organized by the All Parties Conference AJK Chapter and Kashmir Liberation Cell took place.
In Islamabad, a walk from the foreign office was held to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Participants, including ministry officials and All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders, carried banners and posters denouncing Indian actions and supporting the Kashmiri people.
During the walk at D-Chowk, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Amir Muqam honored the courage and determination of those in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. A one-minute silence was also observed at ten a.m. to support the Kashmiri struggle against Indian occupation.
