Islamabad: Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon has emphasized that lasting peace in South Asia is impossible without resolving the Kashmir dispute. Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad today, he highlighted the significance of addressing this long-standing issue.

According to Radio Pakistan, Noon pointed out that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is the world's most militarized zone, with one million troops deployed to suppress the local population. He accused the Modi administration of severe human rights abuses within the region. These violations, as detailed by Noon, include custodial deaths, the enforcement of oppressive laws, frequent internet blackouts, the withholding of higher education, and the arbitrary detention of innocent Kashmiri citizens.

Noon reiterated that Pakistan has consistently supported the Kashmiri people through diplomatic, political, and moral means. He also stressed the importance of creating Kashmir Study Circles and Centers of Excellence to further the understanding of the issue. Additionally, he advocated for the inclusion of "Kashmiriyaat" in educational curricula to broaden public awareness and comprehension of the Kashmir conflict.
