Japan Partners with UNHSP and JICA to Enhance Disaster Resilience in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Schools

Islamabad: The Government of Japan, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UNHSP), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have formalized an Exchange of Notes and a Grant Agreement aimed at enhancing the disaster resilience of schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This initiative is part of a broader effort to fortify educational infrastructure against natural calamities in the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, the official signing ceremony for the project, titled 'Strengthen the Disaster Resilience of Educational Infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province,' took place in Islamabad. The agreement underscores the commitment of the involved parties to safeguard educational institutions from potential disasters, ensuring the safety and continuity of education for students in the area.

During the event, Akamatsu Shuichi, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, expressed Japan's unwavering commitment to supporting Pakistan's resilience agenda. The collaboration between Japan, UNHSP, and JICA signifies a strategic partnership focused on enhancing the structural integrity and emergency preparedness of schools, which are often vulnerable during natural disasters.
