Islamabad: Pakistan and Italy have agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to develop a unified strategy against narcotics and organized crimes. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi in Islamabad today.
According to Radio Pakistan, both sides discussed trade, security ties, and matters of mutual interest, agreeing to enhance cooperation in security, counter-narcotics, human trafficking, and combating terrorism. The Italian Interior Minister reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen collaboration with Pakistan in counter-terrorism, human trafficking, and anti-narcotics efforts, and announced that an Italian team would soon visit Pakistan to strengthen border security.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that taking strict action against illegal immigration and its facilitators is Pakistan’s top priority. During the meeting, Naqvi also informed his Italian counterpart about India’s recent act of aggression and highlighted the motives behind it. The Italian Interior Minister expressed sorrow over the loss of Pakistani civilians and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
The discussions stressed the need for meaningful efforts to de-escalate tensions. Mohsin Naqvi accused India of violating international law by targeting civilian populations and stated that the Pakistani armed forces responded effectively to Indian aggression, destroying five enemy fighter jets. He held India responsible for destabilizing the regional situation and emphasized that Pakistan had been warning the world about India’s dangerous designs.
Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad, Mohsin Naqvi stated that India has jeopardized peace in South Asia and compromised regional stability. He reiterated that India violated international laws by deliberately targeting civilians and stressed that while Pakistan responded effectively to defend its sovereignty, it will never compromise on its national security. Naqvi further highlighted that Pakistan had already alerted friendly nations about India’s dangerous intentions.
