Ishaq Dar Emphasizes Digital Technologies for Disaster Preparedness

Islamabad:Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has highlighted the importance of enhancing resilience against natural disasters, which are increasingly frequent due to climate change.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar made these remarks while presiding over a high-level meeting at the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of the NDMA. The meeting focused on setting up a Joint Pak-Global Tech Facility.

Dar advocated for the effective use of digital technologies to transition from reactive disaster responses to proactive early warning and preparedness systems. He also emphasized the need for efficient and coordinated implementation of agreed disaster management plans.

During the meeting, Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik briefed the participants on the role of the National Emergencies Operation Centre in disaster monitoring, early warning, preparedness, and coordinated response. He also discussed NDMA's Next Generation Technology project and the initiative to establish a Global Resilience Hub for international cooperation in proactive disaster management.
