Iran to Import 300,000 Tons of Rice from Pakistan: Tanveer


Islamabad: Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has announced that Iran will import 300,000 tons of rice from Pakistan. Addressing a ceremony at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he highlighted this development as a significant step in enhancing trade relations between the two countries.



According to Radio Pakistan, the minister also revealed that the Prime Minister has set an ambitious export target of one hundred billion rupees for the country. This target aims to boost economic growth and strengthen Pakistan’s position in international markets. He further mentioned that Bangladesh has expressed interest in importing rice from Pakistan, indicating a positive trend in regional trade partnerships.



Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized the importance of increasing per-acre production through research to meet rising export demands. He noted that higher exports would play a crucial role in reducing the current account deficit, thereby contributing to the overall economic stability of the country.
