Sialkot: The 148th birth anniversary of the national poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, is being celebrated with national fervour today. Known as the Poet of the East, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877. His contributions as a philosopher and poet played a pivotal role in awakening the Muslims of the Subcontinent through his universal poetry and political insight.
According to Radio Pakistan, Allama Iqbal’s historic address at Allahabad in 1930 was instrumental in presenting the idea of the creation of Pakistan. This address provided a clear direction and separate identity to the Muslims of the Subcontinent, ultimately leading to the formation of Pakistan. In connection with Iqbal Day, Radio Pakistan is broadcasting special programs to highlight the poetry and thoughts of Allama Iqbal, celebrating his enduring legacy and influence.
