Islamabad: The COMSTECH and Embassy of Thailand jointly organized the International Symposium on “Halal Science and Wellness” in Islamabad today. The event brought together distinguished international experts, senior officials, diplomats, and representatives from scientific and regulatory bodies across the Muslim world.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Coordinator General of the OIC-COMSTECH, Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, warmly welcomed the participants and highlighted the rapidly growing global importance of the Halal industry. He mentioned that the current value of the Halal industry exceeds $1.3 trillion. Dr. Choudhary stressed the importance of harmonized Halal standards, scientific testing, and capacity building to bolster consumer confidence and expand global trade opportunities, with a focus on increasing collaboration with Thailand.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Thai Embassy Rongvudhi Virabutr remarked on the potential of scientific advancements and emerging technologies like molecular analysis, blockchain traceability, and AI-enabled risk assessment. He noted that these innovations could significantly enhance the integrity of Halal products and make the certification process more efficient.
