International Day of Parliamentarism is being observed today, to highlight the importance of parliaments around the world and the work they do for democracy.
The aim of observing the day is also to recognize and reaffirm the power of people as the ultimate arbiter in shaping destinies of countries.
The theme for this year is "Parliaments for the Planet".
In his message on the occasion, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has extended his warmest congratulations to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
He said this significant milestone is a testament to remarkable work and contributions of the IPU in fostering Parliamentary cooperation.
He said the Senate of Pakistan recognizes the importance of Parliamentarians leading by example in the fight against climate change.
Sadiq Sanjrani thanked IPU for its unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to the advancement of Parliamentary democracy worldwide.
