Information Minister Reiterates Resolve to Eliminate Terrorism After Failed Talks with Afghan Taliban

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has stated that the recent talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan held in Turkiye did not yield any effective solutions.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister expressed disappointment over the Afghan Taliban’s approach, which involved a blame game and deflection instead of accepting any responsibility.

The Information Minister highlighted that the Afghan Taliban delegation consistently agreed with Pakistan’s demand for credible action against terrorist organizations. However, despite providing substantial evidence, which was acknowledged by both the Afghan Taliban and the hosts, the Afghan side failed to provide any assurances. The talks were hindered by the Afghan side’s deviation from the core issues and their evasion of key points that initiated the dialogue process.

The Information Minister emphasized Pakistan’s repeated engagements with the Afghan Taliban Regime concerning cross-border terrorism perpetrated by groups like Fitna al Khwarij (TTP) and Fitna al Hindustan (BLA), backed by India. Despite the persistent efforts and reminders to fulfill commitments made in the Doha Agreement, Pakistan’s attempts have been unsuccessful due to the Afghan Taliban Regime’s ongoing support for anti-Pakistan terrorists.

Attaullah Tarar remarked on the Taliban regime’s indifference toward the Afghan people, accusing it of thriving on a war economy and dragging the nation into unnecessary conflict. He reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to peace and prosperity in Afghanistan, despite significant sacrifices. Unfortunately, the Afghan Taliban Regime’s indifference to Pakistan’s losses has stretched Pakistan’s patience thin.

The Information Minister noted that Pakistan’s engagement with the Taliban regime in Doha and Istanbul, facilitated by Qatar and Turkiye, was focused on preventing the use of Afghan soil as a base for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Pakistan appreciates the efforts of Qatar and Turkiye in facilitating the dialogue and attempting to persuade the Afghan Taliban Regime to cease using terror proxies.

The Information Minister underscored that Pakistan prioritizes the security of its people and will continue to take all necessary measures to combat terrorism. The Government of Pakistan remains committed to using all available resources to eliminate terrorists, their sanctuaries, and their supporters.
