Islamabad:Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Affairs, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, has strongly criticized the provincial government for its failure to develop an effective strategy to combat terrorism and extremism.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, speaking at a news conference in Islamabad alongside Parliamentary Secretary for Information Danyal Chaudhary, called on the provincial government to clarify its counterterrorism policy and report on the progress of implementing the National Action Plan. He also urged the government to address issues such as smuggling and provide relief to the citizens.
Ikhtiar Wali Khan further criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its alleged leniency towards terrorists, stating that it has failed to eliminate terrorism and enhance the capacity of the police and other law enforcement agencies. He questioned whether the provincial government aligns itself with the State of Pakistan.
Danyal Chaudhary also expressed concerns, stating that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has been unsuccessful in addressing terrorism, unemployment, and the province's declining economy. He accused the government of following a policy of violence and confrontation, which he argued is not beneficial for the people of the province.
