IIOJ&K: Occupation Troops Intensify Privacy Breaches During Search Operations

Islamabad: In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, occupation troops have intensified privacy breaches during raids and search operations.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a major cordon and search operation in the Gagarian-Swajian area of Poonch district, Indian forces’ personnel raided several homes and seized residents’ mobile phones. If any call logs or messages are found linking the phone owner to relatives in Azad Kashmir or Pakistan, the individual is arbitrarily detained and sent to jail. This alarming practice has led to the arrest and harassment of innocent civilians. Residents now avoid contacting family members across the Line of Control, fearing their calls could be used as false grounds for detention.

Meanwhile, a UN official and prominent human rights advocates have strongly criticized the Indian government’s failure to protect Muslims following the Pahalgam attack, calling it part of a broader campaign of discrimination and violence against religious minorities. Professor Nicolas Levrat, the UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues, told a US Congressional briefing that India is failing in its international obligations. He cited 184 anti-Muslim hate incidents documented within days of the Pahalgam attack, saying such violence reflects a systematic and unchecked pattern of discrimination.
