ICC Announces Major Rule Changes Across All Formats of Men’s Cricket

Islamabad: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a series of changes to playing conditions across all men’s international formats, including Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.

According to Radio Pakistan, in One Day Internationals, both new balls will now be used up to the 34th over. From the 35th over onwards, teams will be required to choose one of the two balls to be used for the remainder of the innings. For matches comprising 25 overs or fewer, only one ball will be used throughout. This revision is intended to assist bowlers in generating reverse swing.

The ICC has also updated its Concussion Substitute Policy, requiring teams to name five specialized substitutes – a wicketkeeper, batter, seam bowler, spin bowler, and all-rounder – ahead of each match to ensure like-for-like replacements. These revised regulations will take effect from Tuesday for Test matches, July 2 for ODIs, and July 10 for T20 Internationals.
