Rawalpindi: Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced that the groundbreaking for the upgradation of the 500-kilometer Karachi-Rohri track is scheduled for June or July next year.
According to Radio Pakistan, the financing of two billion dollars for this significant project has been secured through an agreement with the Asian Development Bank. The project is expected to be completed within two and a half years.
The Minister also revealed that the upgradation of the 884-kilometer Nokundi-Rohri track is planned to be completed in three years. Hanif Abbasi emphasized that new trains and wagons are being integrated into the Pakistan Railways fleet. Additionally, trains and rail stations are undergoing upgrades to improve passenger facilities, and efforts are in progress to provide Wi-Fi at various stations.
