Rawalpindi: Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgradation of the Karachi-Rohri railway track is set to take place in January of the coming year. This significant development marks a forward step in improving railway infrastructure in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, Hanif Abbasi, while addressing a conference in Rawalpindi, disclosed plans to develop the Rohri-Peshawar section with investments from Saudi Arabia. He also mentioned that the tender for the Naukundi-Rohri section is expected to be issued next month, indicating a robust future for rail connectivity in Pakistan.
In addition to infrastructure developments, Abbasi emphasized ongoing reforms and digitization efforts within Pakistan Railways. He highlighted that both seat and freight bookings have been made available online, reflecting progress towards a modernized and efficient railway service. Furthermore, he announced plans to outsource the ministry’s hospitals, schools, and the operations of both passenger and freight trains to improve overall performance.
