Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain has announced that the federal government is developing a comprehensive long-term wheat policy for 2026-2030. The policy aims to bolster national food security through modern reforms.

The Minister emphasized that the forthcoming policy will focus on digital traceability mechanisms, improved supply chain monitoring, enhanced transparency, and sustained price stability. This approach is intended to foster better coordination between the federal and provincial governments.
The Minister instructed all provinces to ensure rigorous market monitoring and implement effective administrative measures to prevent any undue increase in flour prices during Ramadan. The Committee was informed that adequate wheat stocks are currently available to meet national consumption needs until the arrival of the new crop. Additionally, the indicative wheat procurement price has been set at thirty-five hundred rupees per forty kilograms, and provinces have been advised to ensure smooth execution of procurement operations.
