Govt Pushes for Local Manufacturing with New Policies: Haroon

Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan has announced that the government is actively pursuing initiatives to bolster local manufacturing and encourage technological innovation as a means to enhance the nation's economy.

According to Radio Pakistan, Haroon Akhtar Khan, at a news conference in Islamabad, highlighted a series of new policies that have received approval from the Prime Minister and are currently in the implementation phase. Among these is a mobile phone manufacturing policy designed to boost local production capabilities.

Haroon further elaborated on plans for a new policy aimed at initiating vaccine manufacturing within Pakistan. This move is expected to significantly decrease the country's reliance on imported vaccines, thus enhancing self-sufficiency in critical health sectors.

Additionally, a solar policy is on the horizon, which aims to transition from merely assembling solar panels to engaging in full-scale manufacturing. This shift is anticipated to create a robust local industry capable of meeting domestic energy needs more sustainably.

In his address, Haroon Akhtar Khan also noted the advancements in battery storage technology, particularly emphasizing the potential of sodium batteries. He pointed out that sodium, a key component in these batteries, is abundantly available in Pakistan, offering a strategic advantage in developing this technology domestically.
