Govt Prioritizes Sustainable Economic Growth, Says Finance Minister


Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced that the country’s Large-Scale Manufacturing sector has experienced a growth of 4.1 percent, marking a positive development. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, he highlighted key economic indicators that suggest an upward trajectory for the economy.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister reported a five percent increase in exports and a 20 percent rise in IT services, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive growth. He mentioned that remittances amounted to 38 billion dollars last year and are projected to exceed 41 billion dollars this year, contributing significantly to the national economy.



Aurangzeb also touched upon the Finance Commission Award, expressing his eagerness to engage with provincial chief ministers and their teams for discussions aimed at constructive and productive outcomes.



The Minister addressed the release of a recent IMF report, describing it as a technical document initiated at Pakistan’s request. He explained that the government facilitated the report to promote institutional and structural reforms. The report recognized Pakistan’s advancements in sectors such as governance and taxation. Aurangzeb stressed the need for implementing the report’s recommendations, highlighting that structural reforms are dependent on corresponding institutional reforms.
