Islamabad: The government has decided to close three hundred and ninety-two substandard seed companies immediately. The decision was made during the second meeting of the Board of Governors of the National Seed Development and Regulatory Authority held in Islamabad, chaired by Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister emphasized that making difficult decisions like this will ensure long-term improvements in Pakistan’s agriculture sector. This move aims to benefit farmers and enhance national food security.
The board members unanimously agreed that decisive action is necessary to ensure high-quality seed production in the country. Additionally, the meeting included a detailed discussion on the third-party audit of seed companies to further strengthen regulatory measures.
