Islamabad: Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Kheal Das emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering minorities during a meeting with French Ambassador Nicolas Galey. He highlighted various steps being taken to ensure political, social, and economic empowerment for minority communities in Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Kheal Das discussed the representation of minority members in the cabinets of both Punjab and the federal government. He assured that minorities in Pakistan have the freedom to practice their religions and customs, with their religious festivals being officially recognized and celebrated at the government level. The minister also mentioned the establishment of the National Commission for Minorities, aimed at resolving issues faced by minority groups.
French Ambassador Nicolas Galey expressed his willingness to collaborate with Pakistan in preserving and restoring religious heritage. He also conveyed France’s readiness to support Pakistan in improving the conditions for minorities. Additionally, the ambassador expressed his condolences for the recent loss of life and property due to floods in Pakistan.
The meeting included discussions on various proposals to promote interfaith harmony and peace, reflecting a mutual interest in fostering a more inclusive society.
