Islamabad: Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has extended his congratulations to the newly elected office bearers of the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA), emphasizing the government’s unwavering belief in the fundamental, democratic, and constitutional right to freedom of expression.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Information Minister congratulated MB Soomro on being elected as President, Usman Khan Kakar as Vice President, Naveed Akbar as Secretary, Aurangzeb Kakar as Joint Secretary, Javed Hussain as Information Secretary, and Shakir Abbasi as Finance Secretary. He also congratulated the newly elected members of the governing body, highlighting the essential role of a free, active, and vibrant media in strengthening democracy and promoting democratic values.
Attaullah Tarar remarked that the election success of the new PRA office bearers demonstrates the confidence of the journalistic community. He praised the PRA’s efforts in making parliamentary proceedings accessible to the public and expressed optimism that the new leadership will uphold high professional standards in journalism while safeguarding the rights of journalists.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, also congratulated the newly elected PRA office bearers. He stated that their success signifies the trust parliamentary reporters place in them and expressed his hope that the new PRA body will be proactive in addressing the issues faced by parliamentary journalists.
