Govt Committed to Promoting Talent in Sports, Says PM


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting talent in every field of sports on the basis of merit. He was speaking with Sana Mir, the former captain of the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team, who met with him in Islamabad on Friday.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized that ensuring equal opportunities and facilities for both men and women in all sports, including cricket, remains a top government priority. He congratulated Sana Mir on her recent induction into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame, commending her leadership and the successes achieved by the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team under her captaincy, which brought global recognition to the country.



Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that Sana Mir would continue to play an active role in nurturing new cricketing talent through her experience. In response, Sana Mir thanked the Prime Minister and affirmed her commitment to effectively representing Pakistan at the World Cricket Association and the International Cricket Council. She also presented suggestions for further promoting cricket in the country, particularly women’s cricket.



Sana Mir expressed hope that the government would take initiatives to develop more cricket grounds, support emerging talent, and create greater opportunities for women’s participation in the sport.
