Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government is taking practical steps to achieve export-led economic growth in the country. He made this statement while chairing a meeting of the working group on tax sector reforms in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s appreciation for taxpaying businessmen and companies, highlighting a commitment to promoting business competitiveness through long-term strategies. In pursuit of economic development, the Prime Minister has established a committee, chaired by the Finance Minister, to develop an action plan incorporating proposals from the private sector.
The meeting featured a comparative analysis of tax rates across various sectors, including the corporate sector, and explored proposals for tax reforms, export promotion, and investment enhancement. Business leaders and investors attending the meeting expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the abolition of the Export Development Surcharge.
