Islamabad: Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal has reiterated the government’s strong commitment to eradicating polio from the country. He was addressing an event in Islamabad today in connection with the nationwide anti-polio campaign, which will formally commence on the 15th of this month.
According to Radio Pakistan, Mustafa Kamal said that Pakistan has made progress in eliminating the polio virus from the country, highlighting a reduction in polio cases from seventy-four last year to thirty this year. Mustafa Kamal urged all segments of society to actively engage in the week-long campaign and called on parents to ensure their children are vaccinated against this disease.
He stated that 55.4 million children will be vaccinated during this campaign, with the support of four hundred thousand health workers. He also commended the dedication of health workers for continuing to reach remote and challenging areas to administer the vaccine to children.
