Govt Committed to Deepen Cooperation with Iran: PM


Tehran: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has affirmed his government’s commitment to enhancing strategic cooperation with Iran amidst complex geopolitical dynamics. He expressed these sentiments during a courtesy visit to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, in Tehran.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister was joined by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Federal Ministers Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Attaullah Tarar. During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his utmost respect to the Iranian Supreme Leader, emphasizing his iconic status in the Muslim World and the role he plays in guiding the Muslim Ummah.



The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s aspiration for peace in the region, which he believes is essential for economic development and prosperity. He discussed the recent conflict with India, highlighting India’s hegemonistic tendencies, and expressed gratitude to the Iranian leadership for their support against Indian aggression.



Shehbaz Sharif also detailed the steps taken to elevate Pakistan-Iran relations to unprecedented levels. He commended the Iranian leadership’s approach to nuclear negotiations with the United States, expressing hope that a constructive agreement could foster regional peace and stability.



Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in promoting regional peace and praised his commitment to strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations. He offered prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity and growth.



The Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation for the Iranian Supreme Leader’s dedication to the poetry of Allama Iqbal, urging Sayyed Ali Khamenei to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
