Islamabad: The Senate was informed today about the federal government’s initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism in Chitral. These efforts were discussed in response to a query from Muhammad Talha Mahmood, with Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry addressing the Senate, highlighting the shift of tourism responsibilities to provincial governments following the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Chaudhry elaborated that the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is managing five lodging facilities across Chitral, including in Chitral city, Bumburet, Mastuj, Booni, and Birmoglasht. These facilities are intended to provide cost-effective accommodation options for visitors, thereby encouraging tourism in the region.
In addition to tourism discussions, the Senate session saw the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Privatization, Muhammad Ali, present the Privatization Commission Amendment Bill, 2025. The bill has been forwarded to the relevant Standing Committee for further consideration.
The session concluded with the announcement that the House will reconvene on Monday at four pm.
