Government Commits to Ensuring Citizen Security Amidst Unrest

Islamabad: The government has pledged to ensure the security and protection of citizens at all costs, vowing that no one will be permitted to incite chaos or unrest within the country under any circumstances.

According to Radio Pakistan, this decision was made during a meeting held in Islamabad to address the recent law and order situation. The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.

During the meeting, it was resolved that an assessment would be conducted to estimate the damage inflicted on public and private properties amid the recent unrest. Speaking to the media afterwards, Attaullah Tarar remarked that the recent violent incidents were orchestrated under the guise of protest as part of a deliberate strategy to disrupt law and order in the country. He highlighted Pakistan’s efforts in advocating for the Palestinian cause on international platforms, noting that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani people for their support to the citizens of Gaza.

Tarar pointed out that while global demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine remained peaceful, the situation in Pakistan was marked by violence, with protesters wielding sophisticated weapons, attacking police, and damaging properties.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi dismissed claims that the government had not engaged in dialogue with Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). He stated that sincere efforts were made to resolve the situation peacefully through negotiations, but the TLP insisted on pursuing violence. Naqvi clarified that police actions were limited to dispersing violent protesters and clearing blockades, emphasizing that only TLP officials directly involved in vandalism would face consequences.

Naqvi also announced that the nation would observe Youm-e-Tashakkur (Day of Gratitude) the following day. Sardar Muhammad Yousaf reiterated the state’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and properties and called on Ulema to actively participate in observing Youm-e-Tashakkur.
