Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed today that the government is actively collaborating with provincial administrations to ensure the successful implementation of sowing plans for the Rabi season 2025-26. This initiative aims to maintain national food security.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister for Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain stated that the federal government, alongside provincial agriculture departments, has initiated several measures to prevent any potential wheat shortage in the upcoming Rabi season. The Minister mentioned the federal government’s readiness to supply one million tons of wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In response to another query, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Nelson Azeem disclosed that the outsourcing process of non-functional government health facilities in Islamabad has commenced, including the Regional Blood Centre. He assured that the Blood Centre at PIMS and PolyClinic Hospitals are operational.
Earlier in the session, newly elected member of the National Assembly Bilal Farooq Tarar took the oath of office, administered by the Speaker. Additionally, the House passed ‘The Privatization Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2025’. The session also saw the introduction of ‘The Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2025’ and ‘The Iqbal Academy (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, which have been forwarded to the respective standing committees for further consideration.
