Gilani Calls for Strengthening Pak-Australia Bilateral Ties


Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has emphasized the need for strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Australia in different fields including trade, education, and defense.



According to Radio Pakistan, while talking to Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins in Islamabad, Gilani expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in boosting its exports, particularly in textiles, surgical instruments, IT services, and food products. He highlighted the significance of enhancing economic collaboration to benefit both nations.



The Chairman Senate also noted the strong people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Australia, emphasizing the role of the vibrant Pakistani diaspora in Australia. He acknowledged their contributions to Australia’s economy through remittances, which also serve as a bridge between the two countries.



Furthermore, the Australian High Commissioner conveyed his condolences over the loss of lives and damages caused by recent floods in Pakistan. He assured continued cooperation and support from Australia in dealing with the aftermath and aiding in recovery efforts.
