Alula: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the necessity for emerging markets and developing economies to take on a more significant role in global economic governance, corresponding with their increasing contributions to global growth and GDP. He conveyed these remarks during an interview with the Saudi Press Agency, coinciding with his participation in the second edition of the AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister stressed the value of collective dialogue and coordinated policy responses as essential in navigating an increasingly complex global environment. He expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the conference, describing it as a timely forum for finance ministers and central bank governors to share insights amidst heightened geopolitical tensions, trade fragmentation, and rapid technological advancements, especially in artificial intelligence.
He pointed out the significant evolution of the global landscape since the first edition of the conference, highlighting the necessity for structured yet open engagement among policymakers. In reference to the opening sessions, the Minister underscored the increasing economic influence of emerging markets and developing economies. He asserted that their expanding share in global output and growth should now be reflected by greater influence in global decision-making processes.
Muhammad Aurangzeb expressed optimism that the conference's outcomes would enhance coordination among emerging economies and bolster their collective voice, thereby helping to shape a more inclusive and resilient global economic order.
