False Reports of Unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Circulated Online

Hanoi:The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has identified misleading claims being spread on social media, alleging fabricated unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These claims involve the use of AI-generated visuals, outdated footage, and unrelated videos.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ministry's Fact Checker posted on X, highlighting that the misleading content includes images of factory fires, protests related to power outages, and video clips from Syria. These have been mis-captioned to create a false impression of chaos in the region.

The ministry also noted that Afghan and Indian social media accounts are playing a role in amplifying this narrative. This activity is reportedly in coordination with certain political accounts, indicating a coordinated effort to propagate foreign-driven misinformation.
