Experts Discuss Evolution and Future of Pakistan’s Construction Industry


Lahore: A panel of experts recently convened to discuss the evolution and future prospects of Pakistan’s construction industry in a session titled ‘Construction Industry in Pakistan: Past, Present, and Future.’ According to the University of Central Punjab, the event featured a distinguished group of speakers, including Dr. Faizan Shafique, Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia; Engr. Ahad Yousaf Khan, Director of Environment and Climate Change at the Ravi Urban Development Authority; Engr. Syed Muhammad Hassan Gillani, Director of Planning and Development at the Lahore Development Authority; Engr. Sarah Asif Rajput, Deputy Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at PMU-PICIIP; and Mr. Shafqat Hussain, Director at PMO, Maven Projects LLP.



The panelists provided valuable insights into the historical context of Pakistan’s construction sector, current industry dynamics, and future opportunities. They addressed the challenges and opportunities presented by rapid urbanization and climate change, emphasizing the importance of smart urban planning, regulatory frameworks, environmental responsibility, and the integration of technology in infrastructure development.



The event attracted a diverse audience, including students, faculty, professionals, and policymakers, facilitating meaningful dialogue and inspiring future civil engineers to adopt sustainable and innovative practices.
