Eight Muslim Nations Unite to Urge Immediate Halt to Gaza Conflict

Islamabad: Eight Muslim countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Qatar, and Egypt, have collectively reaffirmed their call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza. In a joint statement, the Foreign Ministers of these nations expressed their commitment to ending the ongoing conflict.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Foreign Ministers welcomed recent steps taken by Hamas in response to US President Donald Trump’s proposal. This proposal aims to conclude the war in Gaza, ensure the release of all hostages, whether alive or deceased, and initiate negotiations for implementing the proposed mechanisms. The ministers also supported President Trump’s appeal to Israel to cease bombings and to commence the implementation of an exchange agreement, appreciating his dedication to fostering peace in the region.

The joint statement highlighted the ministers’ view that these developments present a tangible opportunity for achieving a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire. They emphasized the urgent need to address the dire humanitarian conditions affecting the people in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, they acknowledged Hamas’s willingness to transfer the administration of Gaza to a transitional Palestinian Administrative Committee composed of independent technocrats, underscoring the necessity for immediate negotiations to finalize the proposal’s implementation.

The Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to supporting efforts towards this proposal’s implementation. They aim to bring about an immediate end to the Gaza conflict and reach a comprehensive agreement that ensures the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid, prevents the displacement of Palestinians, and safeguards civilian security. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of releasing hostages, reinstating the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, unifying Gaza and the West Bank, and establishing a security framework that guarantees the safety of all parties. This framework should facilitate Israel’s full withdrawal, Gaza’s reconstruction, and pave the way for a just peace based on a two-state solution.
