Islamabad: The Local Government elections in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) are scheduled to take place on the 15th of February next year.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Election Commission of Pakistan released a notification today detailing the timeline and procedures for the upcoming elections.
Aspiring candidates are required to submit their nomination papers to the Returning Officers between the 22nd and 27th of this month. An initial list of candidates is set to be published on the 29th. The scrutiny process for the nomination papers will occur from the 30th of December to the 3rd of the following month. Appeals concerning the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed from the 5th to the 8th of next month.
The revised candidate lists will be available on the 14th of January. Candidates have the opportunity to withdraw their candidacy on the 15th of January, with the final list being issued on the same day. The allotment of election symbols to the contesting candidates, along with their names, will take place on the 16th of January. The polling for the local government election within the federal capital’s territorial jurisdiction is set for the 15th of February, which falls on a Sunday.
